TusStar Shenzhen (启迪之星(深圳)孵化) — Full-Chain Innovation and Cross-Border Collaboration
Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) MBA Centre organised the XMUM Master of Business Administration (MBA) China Study Trip, which included a visit to TusStar Shenzhen on 5 August 2025.
Following the introduction to Qianhai’s macro-level vision, the MBA study trip continued with a deep dive into the micro-foundations of innovation and entrepreneurship at TusStar Shenzhen. If Qianhai Exhibition Hall gave us a bird’s-eye view of regional planning, TusStar provided a ground-level perspective on how ideas are incubated, nurtured, and transformed into viable enterprises.
Tusholdings is part of a global network of over 200 innovation bases in more than 90 cities, ten overseas. Originating from Tsinghua University’s Science Park, TusStar is not merely a landlord for start-ups. It is a fully integrated innovation platform that combines incubation, investment, talent attraction, and corporate partnerships. TusStar is an incubator brand under TusHoldings, specializing in providing services to startups and innovative enterprises across various stages.

During the tour, the MBA delegation explored co-working areas, product showcase walls, public service zones, and event spaces. TusStar’s “full-chain” incubation model supports companies from the earliest ideation stage through to scale-up and exit, providing not only physical space but also funding channels, mentorship, and access to markets. Its global network enables start-ups to connect resources, talent, and ideas internationally.

A major highlight was the presentation by the Taishan Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on Taishan’s industrial and talent policies. With over 100 km² of contiguous land in the GBA, Taishan is well-positioned for industrial transfer from core cities. Key industries include automotive, advanced materials, equipment manufacturing, modern energy, and biohealth. To attract and retain talent, Taishan offers substantial financial incentives—RMB 24,000–48,000 subsidies for graduates, rent-free “talent apartments” for up to three years, and comprehensive entrepreneurial support.

Following this, the Taishan–Shenzhen–Malaysia Government–University–Enterprise Symposium provided a platform for dialogue among officials, entrepreneurs, and academics. Two XMUM MBA alumni, Ms. Foo Fang Lee (Healthcare) and Mr. Chin Jing Yi (Lighting), shared their professional journeys, underscoring the potential of cross-border networks in expanding market reach and accelerating innovation.

Armed with this understanding, the MBA delegation was ready to continue to the next stop: the Institute for International Affairs Qianhai, where research and policy insights illuminate the dynamics of global governance within the Greater Bay Area.
