Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) successfully hosted the XMUM MBA Networking Day 17.0, themed “AI Unleashed: Navigating Sovereignty & Smart Business.” The event was held at XMUM’s Block A2, Ground Floor, Classroom No. G01, brought together MBA students, alumni, lecturers, and industry professionals for a day of insightful discussions about the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance and smart business operations.
The event featured two keynote speakers: Ts. Tan Aik Keong, Founder and CEO of Agmo Holdings Berhad, and Mr. Zach Azizul Othman, Co-Founder of Lekir Tech (M) Sdn Bhd. Their presentations addressed two critical aspects of AI: AI Sovereignty and AI Agents.

During his keynote speech, Ts. Tan Aik Keong elaborated on “AI Sovereignty” and the Malaysia AI Ecosystem Map, emphasising how national AI strategies contribute to economic growth and technological independence. He also discussed the importance of integrating AI-driven automation to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs while acknowledging the challenges and opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Mr. Zach Azizul Othman shared his insights on AI Agents and their potential to transform business workflows. His presentation, “AI Agents: The Future of Smart Business Operations,” highlighted how AI-driven automation is already reshaping industries by streamlining decision-making and enhancing workflow management. Mr. Zach also introduced the concept of the Large Action Model (LAM), an AI model capable of performing tasks autonomously based on user prompts, which could redefine business efficiency and productivity.

The forum segment of the event featured engaging discussions moderated by Mr. Cheung Kenneth Shiwye from the XMUM MBA January 2025 Cohort. The panel explored AI’s impact on Malaysia’s business landscape, data privacy concerns, ethical considerations, and the potential role of startups and SMEs in driving AI adoption.

Various industry experts, MBA students, and lecturers participated in the event, providing a vibrant platform for networking and exchanging ideas. Mr. Nicholas Lim Chin Shyuen, from the XMUM MBA January 2024 Cohort, served as the emcee for the event, ensuring a seamless program flow.
